West River Electric Awards Scholarships

For The 17th Year!!!!!!

For the 17th consecutive year, West River Electric Association is offering three college scholarships to high school seniors graduating in May of 2007 and students currently in post education. A $1,000 scholarship, provided by Basin Electric Power Cooperative, our power generation cooperative, and two West River Electric $500 scholarships, will be awarded to winners in April.

Applicants for the scholarships must be U.S. citizens and dependents of a West River Electric member. They must be planning to enroll or in attendance in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.

Recipients will be chosen by a selection committee based on a combination of SAT/ACT scores, overall grade-point average, participation in school and community activities, a personal statement of career goals and aspirations, work experience, an essay relating to cooperative business, and an appraisal from a high school counselor, college counselor, advisor, instructor, or work supervisor.
