"Small change can make a big difference"

Together, just by giving a few cents a month, West River Electric Members can make a big impact on life in our area! See who received $$$$ here. Operation Round Up recipients

What is Operation Roundup?

Operation Roundup is a voluntary program that does just what the name implies. Each month we "round up" the electric bills of participating consumers to the next highest dollar. For example, a consumers monthly bill of $37.75 would automatically be rounded up to $38.00, with the additional 25 cents going to the Operation Roundup fund. Donations are tax deductible, and consumers are sent a summary of yearly contributions each January.

How do I participate?

Participation in Operation Roundup is strictly voluntary. You can sign up by stopping by our offices or calling and asking how to be added to Operation Roundup. You can also download a form, fill it out and send it with your bill or drop it off at your nearest West River Electric office.

How much will it cost members?

The average contribution per consumer is about 50 cents a month or $6.00 a year. With this small change, thousands of dollars can be generated and will mean a big difference to the people in our service area.

Where does the money go?

All Operation Roundup donations are placed in a trust and administered by an independent Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is made up of community leaders who serve on the Board on a voluntary basis. It is the responsibility of the Board to receive the funds, evaluate all requests for funds and to decide how to distribute the funds. The trust fund is used for charitable projects and causes throughout the service area.

Who is eligible for funds?

The funds will be available to help any charitable projects for organizations, groups, families, or individuals within the service territory of West River Electric. No funds shall in any way be used to support any candidate for political office or for any political purpose.

Who will serve on the board?

The Board will consist of one member from each of the five areas: Wall, Union Center, Sturgis, New Underwood and Rapid City. Directors will be appointed by the West River Electric Board of Directors. The Trust will have an Independent Board, therefore, the Board of Directors of West River Electric will not be allowed to serve on the Trust Board.

How do I apply for funds?

An application must be submitted to the Trust Board by a member of West River Electric. Watch for future mailings of West River Electric Cooperative Connections for an announcement of when applications will start being accepted for the first contributions from the fund.
