West River Electric Assn., Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work out of our Branch Office located in the second largest city in South Dakota, Rapid City. WREA serves over 17,000 meters in 6 counties of western SD, employs over 50 employees, maintains 3 offices and is governed by a 9 member Board. Rapid City is located on the edge of the beautiful Black Hills and Badlands National Park of South Dakota and has an abundant selection of outdoor activities available including hunting, fishing, and off-roading.
This position requires a highly organized individual to direct the engineering function of WREA’s transmission and distribution system. The position will be responsible for all aspects that goes into planning and development of our growing system to make sure it continues to perform reliably to meet and maintain our power quality goals along with meeting all applicable safety, regulatory and construction compliance rules and regulations.
Applicant must possess the ability to analyze data and communicate results with exceptional verbal and written skills. In addition, this position requires the ability to work with our members, the community and vendors in order to render the most reliable and efficient service possible. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering or engineering technology is required. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, design or survey engineering is preferred. The ability to become certified as a Professional Engineer in SD is required.
